I have become a very reluctant shopper. Pre-motherhood, I was impulsive and didn’t think so much about how I spent my money. I swiped my credit card irresponsibly, consumed my loneliness with (careless) retail therapy, and collected too many unnecessary stuff.
Things have changed, and motherhood has taught me to think many times over before purchasing anything at all. I suppose my reluctance comes from being budget-conscious as well as being more intentional about keeping a specific set of values and style. I became careful about the brands I choose, and only stuck with ones that are familiar and I’m sure of. I’m less of a hoarder, but I still make it a point to “enjoy the little things”, as they say. That said, I thought I’d curate some of these little things that pass my reluctant-shopper filter. :)
Here are some of the items that I’m loving lately. Check them out!
1. Happy Skin Lipstick
A lot of bloggers have been raving about Happy Skin and I don’t know why I waited so long to try it out. The quick verdict is: I LOVE IT!!! I love it like I love Mac, and I love it like I probably won’t buy any other lipsticks BUT Happy Skin lipsticks for the next year or so. I got my first Happy Skin from my 100% Whole Mom loot, and I love the random shade I got (Crushing on You) like it was picked just for me! Check out Happy Skin’s range of products HERE.
2. Tesoros Bayong Bag
Local and handmade is soooo IN these days, and this Tesoros bayong is no exception. (Don’t just love saying “bayong”? Feels so Maria Clara.) Got mine from, again, the 100% Whole Mom launch, and I’m loving how it makes me feel so patriotic and extraordinarily stylish. And check out the pretty detail on that lining! See Tesoros Handicrafts HERE.
3. Grace Home Candle
A product that was conceptualized and developed by The Spoiled Mummy herself, this candle is a premium candle with the scent of rose, talc and basil. Mine is a sample candle that came with the Grace Home press kit, and I’ve been using it quite a lot, specially at night when the girls have gone to bed and I have to stay up to work. The sweet aroma of the Grace Home Candle is super relaxing and inspiring, I’m definitely getting the real thing once my candle ran out. Follow The Spoiled Mummy to know how to buy your Grace Home candle.
4. You’re Beautiful by Malu Ortiz (Book)
Very timely and relevant for the modern woman, the book You’re Beautiful is about inside-out beauty. It covers practical make-up tips you can easily apply, as well as cultivating your inner beauty by making God—the source of True Beauty—the center of your life. It’s an easy read. I finished reading in over two days, and it sure did make me look in the mirror and see myself in a whole new different light. Check out OMF Literature for more inspiring titles HERE.
5. Rich Earth Bracelet
This Rich Earth bracelet was custom-made for the 100% Whole Mom, and more than the bracelet itself, I love what the brand stands for and the dreamer behind the brand. Founded by a Manila-based artist who is passionate about creating beautiful things, Rich Earth Jewelry features pieces that one can choose to wear, frame, or showcase as a “piece of art”.
