When Julianne stepped into the room of Pursuit Manila’s first ever gathering, fashionably late I must add (haha), I heard a collective gasp in the room. My gasp, included. Sure, I saw the names of the women who signed up, but since she went by (apparently) her real name, Julie, it didn’t register to me that she’s The Julianne whose Youtube channel and Soundcloud I quietly followed growing up. Talk about starstruck.
I got to know her a bit more since then, found out that we have several things in common, like being 1983 babies, Pastor’s kids, web and graphic designers, living in the same city, among others. Just like with many of my Pursuit Community friends, it feels like I’ve known Julie for years even when I’ve only met her this year. Suddenly she’s not anymore an “artista” but a good friend and sister in Christ.
A collaboration (and friendship) was born.
Hectic as her schedule is, she always makes time for Pursuit Manila—she lead worship, shared her music, attended gatherings, prayed with us, dreamed with us.
Matchy matchy with Julie.
One evening in March, we got together and poured our hearts out on the table. We talked about what the Lord has been leading us to do, our dreams, our passion. We talked about how we can help each other make those dreams happen. We were excited but also overwhelmed and a bit scared—there’s so much to do! Can we do it? But as we prayed for each other before we parted ways, we can only get more excited. God is going to do something HUGE, we can feel it.
(Photo grabbed from @_loveocampo — I’m soooo proud of these women! They’ve been working double-time to make this happen!)
Finally, just this week, after weeks of loonnggg FB group conversations, Julie met with the Pursuit Manila team to finalize the details of the gathering :)
And so this coming Saturday, Pursuit Manila is getting an exclusive “listening party” with our dear Julianne where she’s going to share with us her new album and her passion project, Ashes to Beauty.
It’s going to be an afternoon filled with inspiration, as we listen to Julianne sing her songs of redemption and healing, and hear God’s message of how He can transform our (seemingly) messy and ugly lives from ashes to beauty.
We will also take headshots of everyone who’s coming, which you can use for your blog or business profiles. But most of all, we want these headshots and Julie’s songs to remind you and make you appreciate who you are in the eyes of God.

About the Pursuit Community
Pursuit Community was founded in 2010 by Karen Stott for a small group of Christian female photographers in the US, and was then called “Pursuit 31″ (based on the Proverbs 31 woman). Since then, Pursuit has grown to become a global community of, not just photographers, but women in various creative fields who live to bring God glory through their work, their homes, and their lives.
Every year we have Pursuit Community Conferences held in Georgia, which attracts a lot of female creatives in the US. We also have a hundred small groups meeting online and locally across 30 states, including local groups in Canada and Asia.
Who is Pursuit Community for?
Pursuit Community is for the creative women—photographers, writers, bloggers, artists, song writers, calligraphers, designers, florists, stylists, makeup artists, bakers, crafters, creative business owners and the like. We find that one thing we have in common with each other is our desire to create something to reflect the beauty of The Creator. And because we’re all creatives, we support each other, pray together, and talk about our creative businesses and pursuits.
Pursuit Manila
Pursuit Manila was launched in the Philippines in January 2015 and, because it’s the first of its kind in our country (and the whole of Asia), has attracted a lot of Christian female creatives in Manila. An average of 30 women come together every month to worship together, pray, encourage one another, learn from each other, and grow in our faith. We come home from every gathering feeling more inspired to pursue our calling as a mom, a wife, a sister, a friend, while also pursuing our creative passions.
