Photographs of my daughters, once a week, every week, this 2014. Week 23.
What many of you probably don’t realize is how hard it is to take photographs of toddlers. Dawn & Rain are no exception. Sure, they’ve learned to pose and smile here and there, and I obviously love taking photos of them, but they still have very short attention span so I have to be quick. Also, my real challenge is hoosing which photographs to keep.
At this point I have 3,500+ jpeg files in my Lightroom, and that’s only counting photographs I’ve accumulated this year. And there’s probably more that I’m not able to transfer to our computer. Plus the ones stored in my phone. Sifting through dozens of photographs a week can be really daunting.
So you see, the post-process part is really why I have all of these unpublished posts in the backburner—it’s just too hard to pick the best shots! That said, imagine how it’s like, taking ID pictures of these two.
You guys. I know.
We needed ID pictures for their passport and visa application, and it took us more than just one take to get that one little task off our list. The first try (above) was just a little practice. We were getting them ready to sleep that time, so my husband thought we do the “real” ones the next day.
On our second try, Rain was not in the mood, so we tried to see if Dawn was up for it.
That one in the middle—she looks grownup don’t you think? I mean, she’s starting to look like a little kid, as opposed to looking like a baby! Ohmyy our babies are becoming full-blown toddlers I think I’m going to cry.
The following night was Rain’s turn:
Except she wasn’t really in the mood to smile. She was in the mood to laugh. And then she got tired laughing and she didn’t want her photo taken anymore so she started crying. LOL.
Unsatisfied, my husband wanted another round. So we tried again the next day, and our last attempt looked like this:
Needless to say, there’s more of these head shots where it came from, and I can’t really remember which ones their Daddy picked. Unlike choosing the ones that make it to my 52 Week Project, picking ID pictures have to be a little more controlled since we only need one shot for each twin.
Let’s just say, I’m glad I can leave it to D to pick the ones that make it to their passports. Can you guess which one he picked for Dawn and for Rain? :)
