Looking at some of my old design projects I found these, and thought, why didn’t I blog about these before? It’s been almost two years since Dawn & Rain’s presence have totally changed up our game, and the sight of these invitations made me all the more excited about their birthday soon!
(Except for the top photo which is a mockup, these were the actual for-printing versions. Too lazy to change them up for this post, sorry!)
If you’ve been following this blog for a while, you’ll remember that I blogged about their Dedication back then but intentionally didn’t post photographs because I got my heart caught up in my throat (or my fingers!). I decided to just post one photograph that I felt summed up the entire occasion for me. Remember?
Remember also that I blogged about DIY-ing decorations for the party? I obviously got a little too carried away about that.
Of course we weren’t really thinking about birthday themes when we came up with Rain & Dawn’s names, but I love how their names make for really fun party themes, don’t you think? :) And yep, I was going through a PINK and GREY craze at the time.

[line]Here are more details from the party, almost two years ago. (Really, it’s been that long?)
(1) Pom poms and washi buntings as table centerpieces; (2) Their grandma (D’s mom!) totally went out of her way to get them these custom M&Ms with their names; (3) We DIY-ed a photobooth backdrop and hanged D&R’s onesies; (4) D&R’s second names were after their grandma’s names, so we placed pictures of our moms carrying us when we were babies on the table display; (5) Happy Lolas and their grand daughters; (6) My husband and I, with D&R’s twin Bitbit the Rabbit by Spinkie.

I didn’t know that that was the inspiration on their names! How beautiful!

You mean the verse? :) Actually, Rain’s name came first (we thought we were having just one baby). We got Rain’s name from Leviticus 26:4, I blogged about it here https://chasingdreams.net/2012/04/852-that-fleeting-moment-before-it-rains/. Dawn’s name came much much later, when my husband came across Psalm 37, “And he will make your righteousness shine like the dawn.” :) Since Rain’s name starts with “R” na, we were really looking for a name that start with “D” from the bible, so that they would somehow follow my name’s and David’s.
Finally when we’ve settled with Dawn & Rain, surprise, we found that verse in Hosea with both their names in it! It was just the most fitting affirmation! :)

now that is even better. gotta love it when things fall into place like that. and yes, it’s like an affirmation that God was in charge all along, as we knew He was :)
