Crepes, tea, dreams and stories of faith—Those are exactly what we feasted on when I met up with Karen, Bea, and Kat one Monday afternoon at La Creperie Moderne in Makati. It was one week after the first gathering of Pursuit Manila, and because Bea and Kat couldn’t make it to the launch, we thought we’d have our own little after-party!
Aside from our love for crepes and tea and great conversations, we share the same love and passion for God, and the same desire to create so that we can reflect back to our Creator His work in us. Karen and I only met Bea and Kat that afternoon, and yet somehow, it felt like we’ve known each other for a while. I guess being around kindred spirits really does that to you, like you speak the same language or something.
Or, like, you don’t need to explain that you have to pause to capture photographs of a moment, or the interiors, or your food. Or like, sure, let’s take turns taking each other’s photographs too, shall we? :)
All of us being *cough* introverts (right, Kat? Lol), I feel like if it were up to us, we’d all rather hide inside our caves, create things in the comforts of our zone, and skip the awkward moments of having to open up to other people. Besides, women like us, we’re always always busy, never running out of things and personal projects to do!
And yet somehow, we showed up that afternoon, hearts on our sleeves, and together we dared to explore this opportunity—if only for the chance, however small, to make an impact in other people’s lives.
You see, there’s something about being around passionate women, not to mention sisters in Christ, that makes you feel like you can take on anything! :)
We shared our stories, we talked about our dreams, we encouraged one another and prayed for each other, and at the end of the day we just knew that we caught a vision, and we’re ready to heed the call.
I like this verse Kat shared, a fitting way to end our lovely, God-filled afternoon.
And God said (to Moses), “My presence will go with you. I’ll see the journey to the end.” Exodus 33:14, The Message
In another version Moses said, “If You don’t personally go with us, then don’t make us leave this place!” As if Moses was literally pulling the hand of God and telling Him “I won’t do this without You, Lord!”
And that’s just how I feel about a couple of things these days! Moses’ stubbornness and full reliance on God, and God’s patience as He deals with him, was a reminder for me to trust in complete abandon and believe that the Lord is with me every step of the way.
As I was walking home that afternoon, I was filled with awe and excitement! If you know that the Lord is with you to the very end, and you know that He brings into your life people who are going to be in this journey with you, how else can you not do what He is clearly calling you to do? :)
What is the Lord impressing upon you today? I pray that you will find the burden to show up, the courage to say YES, and the strength to make the first step. Rest assured, He will take it from there.
Pursuit Community Manila Update
So hey, our being in La Creperie Moderne that afternoon was double purpose. We wanted to have some chika-chika over crepes, sure, but we also wanted to check out the venue for the Pursuit Gathering this February 21! (NEXT WEEK! OMYY!)
